Puget Sound Elopement/ Sequim, Wa/ Alexandra and Mathew/ Shantel Wall Photography

Alexandra and Matthew are one of those couples who truly personify the vibe of Washington. They are simple and understated, but glow with a beauty that can only be found in truly genuine places. They chose to have their covid-friendly ceremony on the Puget Sound in Sequim, Washington which is a beautifully blue expanse just off the Pacific Ocean. This spot is known for having whale and dolphin sightings, but we weren't quite lucky enough to capture one of those on their wedding day. What we were able to capture however is the never ending love and joy that these two people have for each other!

Alexandra looked absolutely stunning in her gown from Theia Couture. She went with a sleek backless silhouette that really accentuated not only her beauty but went right along with the straight lines and deep contrast of the scenery she was surrounded by. This dress was altered by the ever talented Andra Bose in Seattle who did an incredible job making sure that Alexandra's gown fit her perfectly. Matthew, for his part, looked very handsome in his Jos. A. Bank suit and this pair managed to intertwine pops of color throughout their wedding party that complimented the venue perfectly. Emerald green sister's dress, deep blue mother's dresses, burgundy or blue ties for the men. These little additions really are what pull a wedding day together as far as color coordination, and allow me as the photographer to craft gorgeous close ups as well as group shots that look like your wedding was just made to be held there.

Over the years I have shot lots and lots of brides, some with cathedral veils, some with flowery hair pieces, and some with nothing at all. But Alexandra brought me a whole new thing to be excited about when she combined the traditional floor length veil with a modernized twist of a cape. So not only did she keep her hair free from snags and the bulk of having this fabric draped over her throughout the day, but she allowed me to try an entirely new take on the classic floating veil shot. These shots of that gorgeous cape flowing through the sea breeze are absolutely to die for and I loved the versatility that it afforded her throughout the day! I really hope that this twist is here to stay because I would love to see more of these classic staples turned into something unique to the couple, and the fact that it made Alexandra more comfortable throughout the day was definitely an added bonus- I don't think people realize how much there is to fuss with when it comes to bridal attire! There's obviously the dress, the veil, the hair, the makeup, and don't even get me started on the shoes (which Alexandra also did an amazing job picking out, look at these beautiful blue kitten heels!

For all the details that this couple was able to get down perfectly, the best part of a wedding day is always the couple. As with many ceremonies this year, they bought along their closest family and streamed the event for those at home, which made this sweet ceremony so intimate and focused on the couple. I know that Alexandra and Matthew were absolutely running toward the altar and I am excited to see where this next journey takes them. They are such a fun and easy going couple with a family to match and having that good sense of humor and focus on one another is what will make for a truly lasting marriage.
