Salish Lodge Wedding/Snoqualmie, Wa/Shantel Wall Photography/Alex and Rafeal

Updated: Nov 9, 2023

You know when you wake up in the morning and you have that feeling that everything is going to just go perfectly? That's how I felt the morning of this wedding. The sun was shining, birds were chirping, and I knew I was about to walk into a gorgeous wedding with two gorgeous people who have been madly in love for quite some time. I knew that this wedding was going to be full of self expression and fun details. I knew that we would be laughing all day long. Above all, I knew that the images from this wedding were going to be stellar- but I couldn't have dreamed that they would come out as well as they did!

Now, all perfect things must balance themselves with imperfect things. That's just how the world works right? Well Alex and Rafael had their share of imperfections- not the least of which was Alex taking a quick detour into the mud as we hiked toward their portrait session on their big day! She was wearing these darling Vans because we knew we were going to be out in the sticks for some of their pictures- but none of us expected her to get mud all over that beautiful Blue Bridal dress. Rafael did a great job helping spruce her back up with some emergency baby wipes and we were off with no one the wiser! God rewarded our first round of imperfections with a gorgeous waterfall draped in a rainbow however and these pictures just could not have been any more magical.

As the day progressed things continued to roll smoothly, with sass, emotion, laughter and an authenticity that I love so much from this couple. Rafael made the most handsome groom in his Indochina suit, and Alex livened up her look with this super cool hat from Gigi Pip. I always love an expressive couple- and these two always come out in style. I also can't forget their awesome HMUA, Michelle Wight who did such a great job accentuating the natural beauty that Alex radiates.

Their ceremony was nothing short of perfect, even though we got started a bit late (the imperfection has to balance right?). They included this gorgeous arch designed by Twigs and Flowers by Design and it set them perfectly against a backdrop of gorgeous sunset and ever expanding forest below. It's these sunsets and scenery that have always made me love Salish Lodge as a venue and make my job as a photographer so fun! Despite all of it's imperfections, this wedding turned out to be one of the most perfect days I've spent with a couple and I am excited to see what adventures are in store for Rafael and Alex in the future.
